The Weeping Willows
Underneath the Weeping Willows
Stood a weeping child
She would come to this spot to refect
And neglect all of her imperfections
She'd speak none
And listen a lot
Learning and learning as time goes by
She is 13
Underneath the weeping willows
Stood a weeping adult
She would come to this spot to be Alone
And to find out who she is and who she wants to become
She'd cry in confusion
Laugh at stupidity
learning and learning as time goes by
She is 21
Underneath the weeping willows
Stood a weeping fiance
She would come to this spot to pray for the present
And the many years that follow
She'd sit alone
And think back on her childhood
Learning and learning as time goes by
She is 32
Underneath the weeping willows
Stood a weeping mother-to-be
She'd come to this spot to talk to her unborn child
About her life and accomplishments
She'd tell stories
And sing quietly
Learning and learning as time goes by
She is 36
Underneath the weeping willows
Lay to rest the weeping woman
She sleeps in this spot where
She grew up, grew old, and taught her kids about
She can't speak
But listens a lot
Looking down on her family that visits
She was 73.
